Brasfrutas S/A Overview

Brasfrutas developed one of the largest Smooth Cayenne pineapple plantation in South America. It started as a joint venture between the Australian company Elders IXL Limited and the Brazilian Company Netumar Marítima. The company commenced in 1985 with an initial nursery plantation. This was expanded into a 2,250-hectare plantation in Northeast Brazil. Production was focused on supplying fresh fruit for the Western European markets with key customers in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain and Italy. The company was dissolved in 1998.
