The path that led Dan Price to become the owner of BrightStar Care of Leesburg and Gainesville is long and winding. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, he scored the highest grade in Maryland on the CPA exam, worked a couple of years for Arthur Andersen & Co, then earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School. in 2009, Dan founded the Sweet Virginia Foundation, a non-profit organization which seeks to teach children about the beauty and order in nature using honey bees. At his honey bee and cut flower farm in Gainesville, Virginia, Dan grows sunflowers, dahlias and zinnias. Over the past seven years, he and a team of volunteers have cut and donated over 100,000 flowers to local hospitals, nursing homes and hospices. He is extremely proud of his BrightStar team and is passionate about bringing the best possible care to seniors and families in our community.
Our Director of Nursing, Karen Thompson, was born and raised in Leesburg and chose to raise her own family here as well. Her background in Nursing and Emergency Communications cultivated a passion for helping others and equipped her with the tools and information to help our clients find ways to remain safe and live independently in their homes.
