The Department of Bulgarian as a Foreign Language has been an independent academic unit in the Faculty of Slavic Studies at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” since 1986.
Educational activities:
- an introductory course in Bulgarian for foreign students;
- specialized training in Bulgarian as a foreign language in the first and second year;
- lecture courses in phonetics and lexicology, morphology and syntax, psycholinguistics and translation theory - for obtaining additional specialization of reference-translators in Bulgarian;
- exams for the degree of proficiency in Bulgarian - according to the requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR);
- textbooks, teaching aids and tests for different levels of proficiency in Bulgarian according to CEFR.
