Welcome to caian - the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience at University of Bonn! We explore the human brain, cognition, and behaviour from a transdisciplinary perspective, drawing from the fields of neuroscience, computer science, and psychology. Thus, we strive to use the power of artificial intelligence to increase our understanding of biological intelligence, how it is enabled in the central nervous system, and how it fails in neuropsychiatric disorder. Our model systems are perception and threat avoidance in humans. Our goal is to understand how humans make decisions in their natural environment – and why some humans react differently in some situations than others. With this knowledge, we seek to advance mental health treatment. The caian is part of University of Bonn's Transdisciplinary Research Area "Life and Health.
