Cambridge Governance Labs (CGL) is a research and teaching platform founded in 2015 with a mission to disseminate and mainstream specialist knowledge about how good governance can be achieved in specific contexts. Cambridge Governance Labs empowers those tackling global and local challenges, helping them to identify and address specific governance shortcomings that are responsible for those challenges.
The principal strategy to minimise governance risk is to translate what is known about responsible decision-making into practical tools for those who exercise authority on behalf of citizens.
Through research and international cross-disciplinary events we bring together academics and practitioners from across the University and beyond to develop and refine strategies to promote responsible decision-making, i.e. decision-making that is structured by administrative law rules, accountable, evidence-based, ethical, inclusive and guided by policies serve the long term public interest.
