Overview:
Canoe is a proposal for an eventual system of "Joint-Canadian Undergraduate Programs" focusing on transdisciplinary challenge areas - each program being offered together by 3 or more institutions across the country. Reconciliation is a core aspect of Canoe. Canoe would certainly prepare transformative Canadian leaders from all walks of life and across fields.
19 endorsers are already on board. 86% of students polled indicated they'd be interested or very interested in attending a Canoe program. Seed money has been awarded.
Precedents:
Canoe is very much inspired by Erasmus Mundus, the Minerva Project in the US, and the Schwarzman Scholars in China. It follows the Canadian precedent of the Queen Elizabeth Scholars and would serve the purpose of being a significantly value-added domestic version.
