As the population ages, the need for care and treatment increases. At the same time, there is a shortage of care staff. Welfare and health technologies offer a potential solution to the growing need for care. Welfare and health technologies are a fast-growing sector with a wide range of applications. For example, it can help to achieve better quality and safer living at home.
Care about IT is an EU-funded joint project between four countries to develop health technology solutions, training and skills. The project aims to address the growing shortage of healthcare workers in the project areas in Estonia, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands and Finland.
During the project, a national centre of vocational excellence and network of experts in welfare and health technologies will be established in Southwest Finland, including educational institutions, IT companies and workplaces in the health and social services sector. The project will also create six Europe-wide welfare and health technology micro-credentials to support initial and continuous training in the field.
