The Centre for Applied Research in Electronics (CARE) was established in 1971 to focus on research and manpower training in specialized areas in Electronics. The Centre has 14 faculty and 4 Honorary Professors working in three areas: Signal Processing, Microwaves and Microelectronics.The Centre has PhD Program in these areas with 70+ research scholars enrolled presently. The Centre also has an M.Tech Program in Radio Frequency Design and Technology (RFDT) since 2004, which has a sanctioned strength of 44 students each year comprising of 24 GATE qualified candidates and 20 candidates in the sponsored category in the areas of Microwaves & Millimetre Waves and Underwater Electronics / Signal Processing. CARE engages in focused, goal-oriented applied research and specialized manpower training that has served several important national requirements over the past four decades. CARE has very well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in its major research areas due to its strong emphasis on advanced and contemporary experimental research in applied electronics and technology development work. Significant funding for the laboratory infrastructure also comes from the large number of sponsored research projects that the Centre undertakes.
