It all began in 1950, when Ernesto Faccenda purchased the first hectare of land in Canale, in the heart of Roero. Here he began to cultivate Nebbiolo and Barbera. From then on Cascina Chicco was restructured and enlarged, and the vineyards extended into the most suitable areas of Roero. Federico, son of Ernesto, firmly believed in wine production and, together with his wife Maddalena, began to bottle wines under the family name. In the 1980s, Enrico and Marco, Federico’s sons, joined the company after enrolling the Oenological School of Alba. Thanks to their passion and expertise, the family farm was modernized and production was enriched with new wines. In 2006, the company acquired 8 hectares in Monforte d'Alba, from which Barolo Rocche di Castelletto and Barolo Riserva Ginestra are obtained. The effort continued with the construction of a new underground cellar in Canale, inaugurated in 2014. Today, Cascina Chicco is a reference company in the Italian and international wine scene. Its wines, the result of a long tradition and a constant search for quality, are appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts from all over the world.
