Welcome to the Computer Architecture and Systems Lab (CASL) at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. CASL is a thriving research group dedicated to building the future of computing. We focus on developing innovative solutions to ensure that upcoming applications and algorithms perform at their peak. Our interdisciplinary approach encompasses a broad range of research areas including computer architecture, domain-specific architecture designs targeting specialized problems like sparse computing, scientific computing, and graph analytics. We are also involved in fine-tuning recommendation systems and pushing the boundaries in deep learning, computer vision, large language models and robotics. Our expertise doesn't stop there; we engage in hardware/software co-design, explore emerging technologies such as near-data processing (NDP), and work on intelligent dynamically reconfigurable computing environments. We also leverage machine learning to optimize systems and actively engage in prototyping on FPGAs to bring our research to life. At CASL, we're not just predicting the future of computing—we're building it.
