This campaign aims to regenerate the historical Cathedral Quarter area to create a real hidden treasure for locals and tourists in the heart of Letterkenny. The project began last year when a backyard clean up uncovered an amazing heritage. Unfortunately in the past few years many old buildings in the Church Lane have fallen into disrepair and pose a danger to the public. This issue has been highlighted in the local media. All is not lost and there is great potential to create a cultural, arts and heritage area in this oldest part of Letterkenny. We aim to restore the unique buildings to their former glory and that the street become cobblestoned and pedestrianised, this could open up all sorts of opportunities for local businesses and create real jobs.
The Main Street in Letterkenny is dying on its feet and will continue to do unless we change our mindset. Now is the time to think outside the box.
