Recognizing that film is more than just entertainment, it is a tool to engage and inspire audiences to take action, Founder Jon Fitzgerald created Cause Pictures as a new paradigm to help create change. The Company combines Jon’s years of filmmaking, festival and consulting experience, providing services to film festivals and supporting independent filmmakers. In October of 2012, Jon authored his first book, entitled Filmmaking for Change: Make Films That Transform the World, published by industry leader Michael Wiese Productions. The book is in its 2nd edition now, and is being used in film schools across the country. It is also a new online course, available at https://www.filmmakingforchange.com/
Cause Cinema, a sister company, connects social impact films to related causes, and acts as a filter to the best of social impact cinema, integrating numerous film programs, social action campaigns and unique exhibition models, giving audiences the tools to take action.
Jon has recently also launched iGEMS.tv/pro to help filmmakers navigate the festival and distribution landscape.
