CEES was founded in 2001 as a commercial foundation based on the Power Electronics Group within Danish Industry Association. This group was initiated in 1996 based on an initiative by Ib Groenvaldt ("Elektronikfabrikantforeningen") and Klaus Moth (Alcatel Space).
