The art of cutting paper is called psaligraphy—a Greek word meaning "painting with scissors." This expressive form is at the heart of the Museum for Paper Art. Each cut is irreversible, and every piece is a tribute to craftsmanship, patience, and artistic vision.
We showcase world-class paper art and feature rotating special exhibitions as well as permanent exhibitions by Bit Vejle (the founder of the museum) and H.C. Andersen.
The Museum for Paper Art is dedicated to presenting, preserving, and positioning paper art as a recognized art form, aspiring to inspire the use and expansion of paper as an artistic medium—from the fragile and simple to the complex and technically impressive.
