Center for Sustainable Future Technologies

The Center for Sustainable Future Technologies - CSFT is an interdisciplinary research center fully committed to energy transition, circular economy, and sustainability. Its primary scientific objectives are the reduction of anthropogenic CO2 emissions, the improvement of alternative energy efficiency, and the development of a European energy supply chain based on green hydrogen. To achieve these goals, CSFT's strategy includes the development and study of next-generation nanomaterials, processes, and systems to minimize the environmental impact of energy production, storage, distribution, and use. Our excellent research focuses on the study of catalysts, electrodes, membranes, and fuels. Significant attention is given to the valorization of waste molecules and their conversion into valuable products, including through microbial platforms. Established in 2018 within the Environment Park in Turin thanks to the synergy between the IIT Foundation and the Politecnico di Torino, CSFT is part of an integrated system of R&D infrastructures and programs, spanning academic and industrial research through to technology transfer, covering the entire value chain from low to high TRL (Technology Readiness Level). In addition to training new generations of professionals, these activities will enable companies in the sector to access cutting-edge equipment and expertise, facilitating innovation processes with increasing benefits for society.
