The Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business law in the Caribbean pursues its legal harmonization work in the region, with the creation of the OHADAC Regional Arbitration Centre (CARO Centre). The CARO Centre is presided by Sir Dennis Byron, former President of the Caribbean Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and member of the Privy Council of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The CARO Centre offers a variety of arbitration and mediation services accessible in French, English and Spanish. These services are used to resolve, but also anticipate, disputes, promoting security and access to justice in the region. The CARO Centre also offers 'tailor made' services to satisfy the needs of the Caribbean institutions, with a mediation service specifically designed to meet the demands of individuals and companies in the wake of natural disasters. This institution is committed to have quantifiable impact on the region's sustainable development in the years to come. The CARO Centre is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the auspices of the Interreg Caraïbes program, with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Guadeloupe acting as project leader.
