Established in 1928, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the US and remains the largest grantmaker in South Central Connecticut. Our dedicated staff work with donors to build an endowment that inspires, supports, informs, listens to and collaborates with the people and organizations of Greater New Haven to build an ever more connected, inclusive, equitable and philanthropic community. We serve: **Donors & Advisors – By working with The Foundation, donors can have a lasting impact through a knowledgeable partner by creating a personalized charitable fund, enabling them to support the nonprofits that matter most to them, now and in perpetuity. Donors maximize their investments by using The Foundation’s expertise in managing funds and strategies to identify and meet community needs and opportunities. Throughout the year, The Foundation holds community-wide convenings and disseminates informational briefs on a wide range of topics of importance to Greater New Haven's residents. The Foundation also works with professional advisors in helping to identify and offer solutions for their clients to make strategic philanthropic decisions. ** Connecticut Nonprofits – To strengthen the capacity of nonprofits in Greater New Haven, The Foundation distributes millions in grants, provides resources, workshops and education on best practices, and encourages community giving to local nonprofits through giveGreater.org and The Great Give. **Students – The Community Foundation administers scholarship funds for promising students and supports access to quality education and New Haven Promise to help area youth thrive.
