The Domain :
The property has been a family business for several generations and has constantly grown and developed to reach its present size of 20 hectares,1.3 hectares of which bear the Bordeaux appellation.
Traditional vineyard practises, such as ploughing and inter-row grassing, are combined with modern wine-making tools such as temperature control equipment and a pneumatic press to ensure that Château des Moines offers wines of great finesse.
Château des Moines offers wines of notable finesse and fine balance, produced from three great varieties of grape (Merlot 72%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%, Cabernet Franc 10% and a touch of Malbec 3%). Each variety contributes to the exceptional range of rich aromas.
The vineyard is cultivated in the traditional way with ploughing of the soil, earthing up in winter, ploughing back in the spring and controlled grassing of the inter-rows.
Leaf removal is carried out mechanically or by hand, according to the parcel of vines; separate parcel management contributes to the production of quality wines in the best tradition.
The grapes are picked at maximal ripeness; harvesting is carried out by machine, or by hand for certain parcels, with careful sorting of the grapes.
