CHAFA Origin and Purpose:
CHAFA originated when a family member of our CEO received a suspicious medical bill from a diagnostic center. The medical bill was almost two thousand dollars more than quoted before the procedure.
After a thorough review, the medical bill was found to be erroneous and was formally disputed based on an expert audit of clinical documentation, physician orders, and the use of official medical coding and billing guidelines.
CHAFA's CEO Nicole Martin has been a certified professional coder (CPC) since 2007 and has held her healthcare compliance certification (CHC) since 2018. Ms. Martin has 30 years of experience working in the healthcare industry and has worked in every administrative position at the medical practice level and multiple senior leadership positions at the health plan level. Ms. Martin has served as a subject matter expert in the healthcare business industry and frequently provides expertise to colleagues and peers nationwide.
