We are a Kolkata-based NGO working since 2002 in the fields of education, environment and employment, with a focus on digital inclusion. We work mainly among women, children and youth. Our partners include Capgemini, International Rice Research Institute, American Embassy, New Delhi, Schneider Electric & Project Well.
Our Let'sCode project has offered access to coding and tinkering tools to 8,500 boys and girls — studying from Class VI to Class IX — in 10 government schools of West Bengal. The students get to learn the basics of Computer Science, which will put them on a robust career path. Almost 5,000 of the students are girls, while 4 of the 10 schools are girl's school and 3 co-ed — our commitment to STEM education for girls.
Our Kisholoy project teaches foundational literacy, mathematics, geography and history at 6 Sabar Schools in Purulia district of West Bengal and at Panchanantala slum in Kolkata. There are 285 students at our Purulia school and 75 at the Panchanantala school.
Basudha (Earth) is our conservation project. Under this programme, we have planted 4.1 lakh trees — woody trees, fruit trees and mangroves — in West Bengal, Assam, Gurgaon & Rajasthan. We have planted 3.5 lakh mangroves in the Sunderbans that have provided livelihood opportunity to 1,500 SHG women.
Nabanna is our women empowerment project. We are supporting 175 women poultry farmers in West Bengal to scale up their livelihoods by organising them in leader-based collectives and training them in leadership, business practices and resiliance to overcome external shocks.
Our Digital Literacy programme has been running since 2016. We have trained more than 30,000 over the past nine years. The 20-hour course covers training in internet basics, cyber security, using mobile for bill payments, buying tickets etc
Project Well is our programme to fight arsenic poisoning of water. We have installed 200 bitech wells in West Bengal benefiting 2,800 families and 12,000 individuals.
