CHANGYOU'S JOURNEY animated short film is the first film production from Perry Chen Studios. The film was 17-year-old award-winning artist, writer, filmmaker Perry S. Chen's animation directorial debut in honor of his late father Dr Changyou Chen, a Stanford-trained cancer researcher and biotech founder who lost his own life to cancer itself in 2012. Completed in the summer of 2017 and produced by his mother Dr. Zhu Shen before Perry entered his senior year at San Diego's Canyon Crest Academy, CHANGYOU'S JOURNEY and its young director Perry went on to win numerous national art awards, including 2018 National YoungArts Foundation Finalist Award in Cinematic Arts, 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing National Gold Medal in Film & Animation, 2018 New York Life Award, 2018 US Presidential Scholars in the Arts Semifinalist. CHANGYOU'S JOURNEY and director Perry S. Chen won three US film festival awards, including 2018 Newport Beach Film Festival Youth Film Showcase Gold, 2018 Arizona International Film Festival Best of Indie Youth Award, 2018 Film Now Festival Documentary Finalist Award. The film premiered at the 2018 TIFF KIDS (Toronto International Kids Film Festival), was in the official selections of 16 international film festivals worldwide, including San Diego Asian Film Festival, Coronado Island Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival, Dances with Films Festival, International Children's Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey, and Oscar-qualifying festivals such as Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Indy Shorts International Film Festival. CHANGYOU'S JOURNEY has been endorsed by New York Life Foundation, National YoungArts Foundation, and prominent filmmakers including the two-time Oscar winner of documentary feature films Doug Blush (20 FEET FROM STARDOM, ICARUS), two-time Oscar-nominated animation director Tomm Moore from Ireland's Cartoon Saloon (THE SECRET OF KELLS, SONG OF THE SEA), Oscar-nominated animation director Dice Tsutsumi (THE DAM KEEPER).
