Founded in 2017, the Chantal Akerman Foundation aims to manage, preserve and celebrate the late director's works of art and archive. In collaboration with the Belgian royale Cinémathèque, major parts of her filmography have already been restored, successfully widening the accessibility of the films of a major author of European Cinema.
Based at CINEMATEK, the Foundation handles the director and Paradiso Film's paper archives. By facilitating the access to researchers, we hope to help consolidate Chantal Akerman's place in film history.
