The public organization "CIVILIANS IN CAPTIVITY" was founded in December 2022 by family members of persons illegally deprived of their personal freedom as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The head of public organization "CIVILIANS IN CAPTIVITY" is Karyna Malakhova-Diachuk.
The organization’s activities are public in nature and concern interaction with state authorities, local governments, enterprises, institutions, and organizations of various forms of ownership. The organization also has the right to cooperate on a partnership basis with other public organizations, movements, and foundations registered both in Ukraine and abroad, citizens of Ukraine and foreigners.
The organization's goals are:
• to facilitate the search, release and return of persons who have disappeared under special circumstances or are illegally imprisoned (arbitrarily deprived of their personal freedom by military formations and/or the occupation administration of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine) as a result of unprovoked armed aggression by the Russian Federation;
• to facilitate further treatment and psychological rehabilitation of such victims;
• to facilitate psychological and other necessary support for families whose members have been illegally deprived of their personal freedom by the Russian Federation or have disappeared under special circumstances during the Russian aggression against Ukraine;
• to promote a healthy lifestyle among children and youth.
The public organization takes care of about 350 families who have a member illegally deprived of personal freedom as a result of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
