Chief Justice'S Commission On Professionalism company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism (CJCP) was created in 1989 by the Supreme Court of Georgia with the primary charge to enhance professionalism among Georgia’s lawyers and judges. The mission of CJCP is to support and encourage lawyers to exercise the highest levels of professional integrity in their relationships with clients, other lawyers, the courts, and the public. CJCP also encourages lawyers to work to improve access to the legal system. CJCP is comprised of representatives of the organized bar, practicing bar, judiciary, law schools, and the public. CJCP’s work centers around: 1. educational programming; 2. periodic recommendations to the State Bar, the judiciary, and the law schools in Georgia; and 3. coordination of professional activities of the organized bar, courts, law schools and law firms. CJCP has become known for, among other things, two of its annual signature programs; the Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community Service & the Law School Orientations on Professionalism. The Benham Awards are given to judges and lawyers who have demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to their communities through voluntary participation in local organizations, government-sponsored activities, or humanitarian work outside of their professional practice or judicial career. The Law School Orientations on Professionalism are designed to introduce first-year law students to professionalism concepts as they begin their professional journey to become members of the Bar. In addition to these signature programs, CJCP reviews professionalism CLE programs upon request and assists lawyers and judges in planning and presenting professionalism CLE programming.CJCP also selectively produces its own professionalism programming as part of its work to coordinate professionalism activities among the organized bar, courts, law schools and law firms.
