The Classic Wallabies’ Indigenous Exchange is a leadership program for young Indigenous Australians. Managed by Eidos Institute Foundation (EIF), delivered in partnership with the Australian Government – through the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program – Classic Wallabies, MindHive, Australian Volunteers International, Bizzell Capital Partners, TJS Services, Steel Blue, Sealy Posturpedic, Children’s Eco Training South Africa, University of Edinburgh Business School, and Francois Pienaar’s Make A Difference (MAD) Foundation. The CWIE program began as a student exchange initiative dedicated to providing Indigenous university students with the opportunity to study abroad and undertake a volunteer assignment in an overseas community-based organisation. The focus of the CWIE program on academic study and volunteer service in communities will promote career and personal development of the CWIE students. To date, 24 indigenous young men and women will have experienced a 6-week tour of South Africa working in Francois Pienaar’s MAD Foundation projects in Hoedspruit, Limpolo.
