The Climate Youth Delegates (CYD) are young individuals who officially represent the interests of young people in Luxembourg on climate protection issues at the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP). As part of this role, they conduct a consultation phase with young people in Luxembourg to gather their opinions and concerns on climate issues and integrate them into international discussions.
They are also selected to take part in a series of training sessions under the Climate Youth Negotiators Programme (CYNP) and to accompany their government’s diplomatic delegation at the COP.
The CYD program in Luxembourg, a collaboration between Jugendrot/CGJL and the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Biodiversity (MECB), serves both as an educational opportunity and an citizenship education project, aiming to encourage young people to engage in climate issues and make their voices heard on the international stage.
