In the immediate aftermath of Haiti's January 12, 2010 earthquake, President Barack Obama asked Presidents Clinton and Bush to join forces in leading a major fundraising effort to assist the Haitian people. Together they established the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to help the people of Haiti rebuild - and build back better. Its initial efforts were focused on immediate relief and emergency assistance. While it continues to seek to meet selected near-term needs, Clinton Bush Haiti Fund's primary focus will now shift towards longer-term reconstruction, job creation, and the promotion of economic opportunity.
