Consortium of Academic Programs in Clinical Research Overview

The Consortium of Academic Programs in Clinical Research facilitates the development of high-quality educational programs encompassing all areas of clinical research that are based in academic credit-granting institutions. The mission and purpose of CoAPCR is: o To provide a medium for communication among educators of clinical research professionals. o To encourage and support the development and maintenance of academically based clinical research educational programs to meet the needs of the clinical research community. o To foster inter-institutional articulation among educational institutions, clinical institutions, professional associations, and industry. o To initiate and/or support research and studies relating to the educational, manpower and service needs of clinical research professionals. o To develop organizational and policy positions to be communicated to various agencies and associations, including lay public and media. o To monitor legislation and policy regarding clinical research issues and insure professional representation and voice on these matters. Current membership in CoAPCR consists of experts in the field of clinical research and academic institutions that offer certificate or degree programs in clinical research. Degree programs range from undergraduate to graduate programs. Certificate programs are post-baccalaureate and graduate programs. Additional sites include clinical research education offered through the CTSA sites that offer special programs for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students working in bench to bedside drug discovery, development and clinical research.
