Reports of critical patients desperately fighting COVID-19 in intensive care, alone without their family is devastating. Likewise, anecdotal stories of residents of nursing homes unable to see their loved ones for months is heartbreaking.
We are bringing technology to these patients and residents, so that they can see their family’s faces and hear their voices, bringing comfort in a scary environment.
The majority of the patients hospitalised are older, with 50% over 65. Not only may a lot of them not have a smartphone with them, but tablets allow for bigger pictures and easier positioning for patients.
The elderly in our nursing homes often do not have access to wifi and digital communication, therefore our tablets are fully configured and set up so that they can make video calls straight away.
