The newspaper he has worked for, are Lankadeepa, Lakbima, Jana Lanka, Yukthiya, Ravaya, Anidda, and Lanka. He was the Chief Editor of Hiru newspaper in 2004 and 2005. He was a web journalist since 2005 of his own W3lanka. Also, he has worked for Colombo Page, Global Press Journal, and several other organizations as a Sinhala to English and English to Sinhala translator. Ajith Perakum is a writer who has published two novels, a collection of short stories, and a collection of poetry.
