The Co-op Pub Company
Cornerstone Inns was established in 2012 in response to the failings of the PubCo model that has destroyed livelihoods, pubs and communities all across the country. Cornerstone is on a mission to help get pub assets into community ownership and pub operations into workers hands.
In 2016 and 2018 Cornerstone won the coveted 'Best Community Pub Operator' at The Publican Awards and in 2019 established its first 100% owned Worker Co-op to operate a small cluster of pubs in the Weaver valley in Cheshire.
The Weaver Valley Co-op is Cornerstone Inns pilot franchisee and rooted in its local community. Cornerstone Inns provides the model systems, structures and cultures together with training, development and ongoing support and mentoring. It is a partner franchise agreement founded in mutual benefit.
The hope is that the model will be successfully replicated into Preston in 2021 opening the door to further development in communities across the UK in years to come.
Cornerstone Inns is a Community interest Company, at least 65% of its profits go towards helping communities secure their pubs in common ownership.
