Coscomate Hospitality Group (CHG) began its journey in 1992 with the creation of the Argentinian restaurant La Taba in Mexico City. Such was its success that Alfajores, a similar concept, was launched in 1994. By 1997, there were more than three sister concepts all over the city.
The group's portfolio did not stop there, in 2006 Taba Bar was created, in 2007 Alfa Bar, and in 2008 two more concepts opened its doors: La Taba Sports Bar Restaurant and Taba Café, both in the Mexico City International Airport. In 2017 La Taba Group was successfully sold.
Besides having created the La Taba brand, CHG began a partnership with the French bakery Maison Kayser in 2014. That year, three locations were established. By 2016, Maison Kayser Mexico had more than 15 locales. Only two years later, the number of locations doubled, and the franchise expanded to Cancún and Monterrey. It would take a couple of years for CHG to also acquire the rights for the Maison Kayser Spain franchise and to jumpstart its production center in Portugal in 2019.
In 2017, CHG and chef Gabriela Ruíz founded Carmela & Sal, a culinary concept that focused on serving contemporary, high-quality Mexican dishes. A couple of years later, in 2019, the CHG’s first international opening took place in Chicago through Tzuco a concept designed alongside Carlos Gaytán, the first Mexican chef awarded with a Michelin star. In 2020 the hospitality group took the opportunity of creating a second concept by chef Gabriela Ruíz with Vuelve Carmela in Tabasco, Mexico.
To this day, there is a total of 36 Maison Kayser branches open in Mexico with four more in Spain, there are also four Mexican restaurants: Carmela & Sal, Vuelve Carmela and Siempre Carmela –all in Mexico–, and Tzuco in the US.
