Cove Energy was an upstream oil & gas company (AIM-listed) with E&P assets in Mozambique, Kenya and Tanzania. Cove was part of the consortium, led by Anadarko Petroleum Corp., that in 2009-2012 discovered 75+ TCF (13 Bboe) of recoverable gas offshore Mozambique. These discoveries rank among the world’s largest of the last 20 years and have the potential to elevate Mozambique to the third-largest exporter of LNG. In 2012, Cove was sold to Thailand's national oil company PTTEP for £1.2 billion ($1.9 billion), following a bidding war with Royal Dutch Shell plc.
In 2012, the former management team of Cove in its entirety founded Discover Exploration, a new upstream company, co-owned by The Carlyle Group.
