Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue is an all hazards emergency response department located in Kelso, Washington. It is the largest fire district in Cowlitz Country, with four stations and a first due area of over 145 sq. miles and a population of approximately 37,500. We serve the City of Kelso and the unincorporated areas around the City of Longview.
We are a combination department with both career responders and volunteer responders. The department is also home to Station 29, the technical education program for high school juniors and seniors, which currently has students from 9 area high schools.
We provide a multitude of services for our community. We respond to both fire and medical emergencies, as well as hosting the regional hazardous materials team.
We contract with the City of Kelso and Cowlitz County to provide certain fire marshal duties such as commercial fire safety inspections and fire, life safety building plan reviews, and fire investigations.
We provide public outreach for community events, educational visits for schools and daycares, and involvement in local safety organizations Safe Kids Lower Columbia and the Cowlitz County Traffic Safety Coalition.
