CSAV

Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores S.A. (CSAV) is a shipping company based in Chile. It was founded on October, 9th 1872 and is currently the oldest shipping line in Latin America and one of Chile’s first five publicly traded companies still in existence. Nowadays, its main business is container shipping, through its interest acquired in 2014 in the German company Hapag-Lloyd AG, where it holds a 30% interest. It is also party to a shareholder agreement that controls over 70% of that company, thus, exercising significant influence and joint control over the world’s fifth-largest shipping line in the container shipping segment.
