CSUMB Service Learning Institute Overview

The Service Learning Institute brings the CSUMB Vision Statement to life. By building authentic and reciprocal partnerships between the university and the community, the SLI helps all students to become multicultural community builders: students who have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work effectively in a diverse society to create more just and equitable workplaces, communities and social institutions. What we do: We are one of a kind! CSUMB is the only public university in California that has made service learning a requirement for all students. The SLI maintains a database of over 400 community partner organizations, who work closely with CSUMB faculty in designing and delivering over 100 service learning courses each year. Through these courses, we have successfully connected CSUMB students to integral community partners.
