Christians Talking About Stuff: New podcast sees three Christian friends exploring life through the prism of their journeys of faith – without the weird stuff.
This ground-breaking podcast explores everyday life through the lens of Christianity and experience of many millennials today. From mental health to masculinity, street preachers to social media, CTAS takes a walk through the stuff we all have experience of, but from a Christian perspective.
Marcus Speller, host of the Football Ramble podcast (with over 20 million downloads to date), is joined by journalist Sarah Ann Harris, a journalist who recently left her role at HuffPost UK to join The Guardian, and Chris Gaul, who is about to start training to be a vicar after 12 years at the United Nations.
CTAS covers topics from social media etiquette to street preaching, body image to the politics of the Whatsapp group, making it easily relatable for anyone, not just Christians.
Marcus says “We noticed there were loads of Christians podcasts which were sermons, theological discussion, How to be a Leader type shows or interviews with Christians selling their new books – but there was nothing like what we wanted to put out.”
“I wanted to call it Not ‘Godpod’ (which is a great listen if you want theology), as you are not going to listen and think, ‘Those guys know their bible well’. You are going to feel like you’re sat with your friends, with a drink and one of them brings up something from work, or something they’ve read – or a terrible (but funny) date experience.” Said Chris.
Christians Talking About Stuff is less snore-worthy sermons or fire-and-brimstone preaching, more chat in the pub over a pint.
When tested out on both churchgoers and non-church goers, CTAS has been described as feeling “like ‘My Dad Wrote A Porno’ without the porn” and “a nice balance or personalities, views, humour, lightness and smack theological perspective and Jesus Love”
