The Danish Action Research Network (DAN) is an interdisciplinary network that brings together and connects people who work with and are interested in participatory and change-oriented research. On this LinkedIn page, we maintain and develop relationships among fresh as well as experienced researchers and share news and information about the network's activities and researchers' interests. All group members are welcome to post about new publications, exciting conferences, and similar topics.
The network was established in 2002 by researchers from Aalborg University and Roskilde University Center to create a meeting place for action researchers in Denmark. Since 2012, the network has evolved and now primarily includes researchers from the Center for Action Research and Democratic Social Development (RUC), the Action Research Network Learning Across (Aalborg University), and the Department of Teacher Education at the University College Copenhagen (KP). DAN is a national network that encompasses various interdisciplinary research environments and embraces a wide range of approaches and research fields in action research.
Overall, DAN is characterized by the idea that "action research is seen as a research approach that seeks to create knowledge through the transformation of the world in an active democratic interplay between researchers and the people involved in this change. In action research, the connection between knowledge creation and change processes, and theory and practice development, is emphasized" (Duus, Husted, Kildedal, Laursen, and Tofteng 2012).
Since 2002, DAN has organized seminars, PhD courses, and the national action research conference, which is held alternately in Roskilde, Copenhagen, and Aalborg, and has attracted participants not only from Denmark but also from other Scandinavian countries.
