About DCM Shriram Defence

DCM Shriram Industries Limited (DSIL), known for its century old tradition towards nation building. The DCM Group has a strong legacy of production and collaboration. It has now forayed into Defence manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. DSIL plans to set up a fully integrated facility, in a graduated manner, to produce Defence Equipment for the Defence and Homeland Security Organisations. DSIL has been granted Industrial Licenses to manufacture Multi Role Armoured Vehicles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Communication Equipment and Opto- Electronic Devices by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. DSIL has designed, developed and manufactured technologically advanced Multi Role Armoured Vehicles for the Indian Defence Forces. DSIL has manufactured prototypes of Light Bullet Proof Vehicle (ZEBU Carmel Lite and ZEBU Carmel) on the 2.2L Manual Transmission and 3.2L Automatic Transmission. These vehicles are modular in design can be customized to Stanag-I Level or unique customers’ requirements. These LBPVs provide optimal survivability and reliability whilst remaining focussed on superior performance. The LBPVs are ideal for offensive and defensive operations in various hostile environments. DSIL is also into line manufacturing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. We have developed two prototypes (DCM Trishul and DCM Kailash) for Surveillance and Heavy Lift requirements. These UAVs are scalable base platforms which are easy to customise and can be configured to perform a variety of roles. The niche technology, aerodynamic shape and rugged composite material of the UAV, offers best in class speed and endurance. The UAV Systems have been designed to meet the stringent operational requirements of the Security Forces. They offer crash resistance, stable flight characteristics and up to 10% more flight time. These are designed to cater for Defence and Commercial Applications.
