During the 2008 financial downturn, my business took a huge hit and my income dropped by 75%. I was 32 years old and up to my eyeballs in debt. To make matters worse, I even lost the house that I had purchased for my mom after her divorce. It was meant to be a safe haven for her. I was feeling defeated, but I was determined to climb out of the hole I had fallen into.
