Decoding Dyslexia - Texas Overview

Decoding Dyslexia Texas (DD-TX) is a grassroots movement driven by Texas families concerned with the limited access to educational interventions for dyslexia. One of now more than 35 Decoding Dyslexia state-based organizations, DD-TX aims to encourage and empower parents of dyslexic students in Texas, approach state lawmakers to influence much-needed changes in long-standing Texas dyslexia laws and increase awareness of dyslexia and the need for appropriate remediation services in all Texas schools. Read about the Decoding Dyslexia national movement in the 2/23/13 Huffington Post article by Kyle Redford, Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity Education Editor http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kyle/decoding-dyslexia_b_2718729.html?goback=%2Egmr_2089434%2Egde_2089434_member_216829165 Also listen to the KUT Austin radio news piece about how Texas schools are failing to identify and educate dyslexic students under our state's robust and longstanding dyslexia laws here: http://kut.org/post/getting-texas-public-schools-identify-dyslexia-proves-tough-some And read comments from parents and community members on the Texas Tribune version of the KUT article here: http://www.texastribune.org/2013/10/10/in-texas-a-struggle-to-get-schools-to-identify/comments/
