Lars Halvor Jensen and Martin Michael Larsson are the founders of DEEKAY Music, a Danish music publishing and production company with offices in Copenhagen, Denmark and Los Angeles, California. They have written and produced records with combined sales in excess of 40 million records worldwide and hundreds of millions of streams. Background: In 1995, Lars and Martin met at a school for music in Denmark and immediately decided to start a band together. That same year the band (YouKnowWho) got signed to Universal Music Denmark (MCA Records) as the first band ever signed to the label. After releasing and promoting their Platinum-selling debut album (which spawned 4 hit singles) they decided to start a publishing/production company and start writing and producing for other artists around the world. In 1999, they signed a major co-publishing agreement with Rondor Music UK and in 2000 they had their first major UK song placements with S Club 7, Samantha Mumba, Precious, Martine McCutcheon and others. 2003 saw their first European smash hits with the two hit singles “Breathe Easy” and “Bubblin” from the multi-platinum album “Guilty” by Blue. In the period 2004-2009 they signed several writers to DEEKAY Music and continued their streak of hits with artists like Lemar (“It’s Not That Easy”), Sugababes (“Change”), JLS feat. Tinie Tempah (“Eyes Wide Shut”), and started getting US releases as well with artists such as Method Man and Diddy/Lil Wayne. In 2009 Lars moved to Los Angeles, CA and together with Martin, he wrote and produced the winning song for Eurovision DK with Niels Brinck (“Believe Again”). They repeated the feat by winning the Irish version of the show in 2011. The following years, Lars and Martin achieved major chart success in other territories such as South Korea and Japan with #1 hits from artists such as SHINee (“Hello”), Girls Generation (“Hoot”), TVXQ (“Superstar”), while picking up the People’s Choice Award at the UK Music Video Awards with JLS feat.
