Democratism is an independent, nonpartisan organization formed to advance the power of the people to shape the future. Democratism launched and promotes the Democracy Decree, which aims to establish a government by consent of the governed in the United States, by instituting popular election of the president and proportional representation in both houses of Congress.
The Democracy Decree begins as local legislation that can be adopted by any democratically representative body within the US, such as the legislature of your city, county, or state. When adopted by enough local jurisdictions, it will trigger a vote of the American people on whether to end the Electoral College and create fair representation in Congress.
If ratified by the people, it will put the people in charge of choosing our leaders.
