As a non-profit organization, the German Society for Periodontology performs scientific and professional tasks in the field of dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine, with focus on periodontology.
For over 90 years she has been providing advice and support in periodontal issues for her almost 5000 members and dental organizations.
The tasks of DG PARO include the promotion of research in the field of periodontology as well as the evaluation, dissemination, and representation of scientific findings. In addition to holding scientific conferences, the main focus of activity is continuing education and training in the field of periodontology and the organization of corresponding events.
In addition, the society annually grants scientific awards such as the Heinz Erpenstein Prize. DG PARO works intensively, also on an interdisciplinary basis, with scientific societies, working groups and institutions at home and abroad.
