The Digital Innovation Hub Photonics (DIHP) is an initiative to accelerate the technology transfer from and with five research institutes in optics and photonics through and with startups, scaleups, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). At the annual DIHP-Elevator Pitch extensive research budgets can be won by already established startups, scaleups, SMEs or entrenpreneurs-to-be. Past winners of the pitches include teams that later formed Spectō Srl. from Milan, Italy SPACEOPTICX GmbH, IDLoop GmbH, Quantum Optics Jena GmbH, Robust AO GmbH, ConstellR GmbH, and others.

It is backed and funded by the Thuringia Ministry of the Economy, Science and the Digital Society (Thüringer Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Digitale Gesellschaft (TMWWDG)).
