Diritti al Cuore ONLUS is an international organisation based in Italy (Rome, via Federico Borromeo, 75) and in Senegal (Dakar), which deals with cooperation and development projects (in particular, social-health assistance to children and women of maternal and child age) and cultural awareness and promotion. The association currently has numerous activities in Senegal, Gambia and Italy. It was founded in 2005 as a medical project of the Associazione Energia per i Diritti Umani ONLUS (Energy for Human Rights Association) with the aim of guaranteeing health assistance to children in the distance support (SaD).
In 2010 it was legalised as a voluntary organisation and recognised as a non-profit organisation. It immediately joined the La Gabbianella network: Coordination for Distance Adoption, having signed its Charter of Principles and Charter of Quality Criteria, and to the SaD Forum (permanent forum for distance support). Since 2013 it has been a member of the RAI Consulta per il volontariato (VoleRai) and in 2014 it received the quality mark from the Istituto Italiano della Donazione (Io dono sicuro); since 2015 it has joined Open Cooperazione for transparency in the management of donated funds.
