Youth participation is limited, time consuming and can cost a lot of money. It can keep many potential candidates, who do not have the resources from attending or applying to opportunities. Thereby, we often witness participation from a very homogeneous group. The same group that will potentially become the leaders of tomorrow. We wanted to create an initiative that addresses this issue and helps diversify youth engagement and participation. To combat this phenomenon it is important to ask oneself what barriers are holding young minorities back from excelling in their career and taking in potential leadership roles. Diverse Young Leaders aims to spread awareness on possible barriers for young people with a minority background.
