Giving back and bringing hope.
The Diwali Basket Brigade is a charitable initiative organised by The Diwali Foundation, a UK registered charity, established in 2018. The objective of the charity is simple – to provide food hampers to socially deprived and/or vulnerable households, from all faiths and backgrounds across the UK.
Through our bi-annual initiative, which has been running for 7 years, we have created a unique community-focused event which provides volunteers the opportunity to give back to those in need.
Since inception, we have provided almost 15,000 hampers to families in need. This equates to 173,000 meals weighing almost 70 tonnes.
Diwali is symbolic for multiple faiths with a core message of ‘light triumphing over darkness’ and the ‘victory of good over evil’. It is also a time for family and friends to come together, share joy whilst emphasising the importance of giving back, unity and strong community cohesion, all of which the charity embodies.
