DO-AIR – Adriatic-Ionian Regional Data Observatory is a strategic initiative launched in December 2024 to provide a comprehensive, data-driven understanding of the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion. It serves as a permanent platform for monitoring and analyzing key socio-economic and infrastructure trends, with the aim of supporting evidence-based policymaking and enhancing macroregional integration.
DO-AIR focuses on four main areas of research:
- Trade Flows
- Foreign Direct Investments (FDI)
- Business Mapping and Demographics
- Maritime and Air Traffic
The observatory is the result of a joint collaboration between the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, the Marche Region, the Chamber of Commerce of the Marche, and the Marche Polytechnic University – through its Interdepartmental Research Centre on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIRI). This partnership ensures a high level of scientific rigor and policy relevance.
DO-AIR was officially acknowledged in the Ministerial Declaration of Crete (May 7, 2025) as a best practice within the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR). It is designed to operate as a structured, continuous monitoring system, providing updated insights that can help regional stakeholders make informed decisions and shape effective strategies.
Through its data-driven approach, DO-AIR strengthens the role of the Marche Region in internationalization and territorial cooperation, while offering tools that promote sustainable development, regional competitiveness, and cross-border collaboration.
