The Dorothy Parkes Centre is an award-winning Community Centre based in Smethwick, a diverse and deprived area in Sandwell, West Midlands. We provide opportunities to bring people and organisations together in a spirit of friendship and equality, enabling our local community to thrive.
Our centre helps to address local issues and needs by providing, or hosting, a wide range of activities including a youth club, older person’s groups, creative groups, martial arts, exercise classes, healthy lifestyle consultations, weight management groups, benefits advice, job clubs, and dance. The focus is around physical and mental health and wellbeing, and social interaction. Activities can be free of charge or have a small fee, and the number of users is approximately 700 - 800 per week.
Our Centre also delivers initiatives such as Community Allotment Plot, Community Litter Pick, Community School Uniform Exchange, and Community Speedwatch Campaigns and hosts Community Theatre.
